Goldendoodle, Cavapoo, GoldenCavapoo and Toy Poodle Breed & Generation

Goldendoodles

Temperament & Personality

Goldendoodles are loving, loyal, patient and social making them an excellent choice for families as they get along great with children and other pets.  They are gentle and affectionate dogs with easy-going temperaments.  They are also one of the smartest breeds making them easy to train and a great option for first time dog owners without prior experience owning a dog.  Goldendoodles are people pleasers which makes training a breeze.  Because they are highly social they thrive off human interaction and should be inside pets only.

Goldendoodle Facts

  • Life span 12-15 years

  • Size depends on breeder and the parents, we breed Toy (8-12lbs), Petite (13-18lbs), Miniature (18-40lbs)

  • Coats require regular grooming and weekly combing & brushing to prevent matting.

  • Shedding depends on the generation and/or coat type but typically our puppies are low to extremely low shedding.

  • Allergy friendliness really depends on the person and what they are allergic to, generally F1b or Multi Generational Goldendoodles are best for families with allergies but lots of families with mild allergies are fine with F1 generations.

Cavapoos

Temperament & Personality

Cavapoo personalities are very similar to Goldendoodles which is why we choose to add them to our program.  They are sweet, friendly and social with both people and other animals.  They are known for their exceptional easy-going temperament.  Cavapoos are intelligent and people oriented making them a good choice for first time dog owners.  They are adaptable, easy to handle and generally easy to train.  Because they are so people oriented they must be inside dogs and should be with families that have time for lots of personal love and attention.

Generations

F1-First Generation

An F1 Goldendoodle is a Golden Retriever x Poodle, we only breed Miniature F1 Goldendoodles.

An F1 Cavapoo is a King Charles Cavalier x Poodle.

F1 Coats are almost always the Wavy Plush coats, occasionally we will get a curlier plush coat in an F1 litter.  Our poodle studs used for F1 litters carry two copies of the furnishings and curl coat gene to ensure the "doodle" look everyone wants.  All our F1 doodles have one copy of the furnishings gene and one copy of the curl coat gene.

Past F1 Puppies have typically been low to extremely low shedding.  We have mild allergies in our home and they all do fine with F1 dogs and puppies but allergies really depend on the individual person and dog.

F1b-Second Generation

F1b Goldendoodles are an F1 Goldendoodle x Poodle, we breed Miniature, Petite and Toys in this generation.

F1b Cavapoos are an F1 Cavapoo x Poodle, we breed Petite and Toys in this generation.

In an F1b litter approximately 1/2 of the litter will have the same coat genetics as an F1 and the other 1/2 will have two copies of the curl coat gene.  All puppies will have atleast one copy of the furnishings gene. This means that half of the litter will have the wavy plush coats more similar to an F1 and the other half will have the curly coats.

Past F1b puppies have typically been extremely low shedding and are normally great choice  for moderate to severe allergy families however it really depends onthe individual person and dog.

Multi Generational

We breed multi generational Goldendoodles, Cavapoos and GoldenCavoodles.

A multi generational doodle is produced when both parents are doodles usually a second generation or greater.

In our breeding program our multi generational puppies are essentially the same genetically as an F1b as far as parent breed percentages.  How do we know this? Because we genetic test through Embark and have matched our doodle pairings to produce this result.  Coats will have similar coat varieties like the F1b litters.  Excellent choice for families with moderate to severe allergies. Our Multi Generational studs will always have two copies of the furnishings gene to ensure the doodle look.
